"ලෞකිකත්වය ආත්ම පරිවර්තනය කරයි. එය මිනිසුන් යතාර්ථය සමග ඇති සම්බන්ධතාව බිඳ දමයි. ඔවුන් ජීවත්වන්නේ ඔවුන් විසින් ගොඩනගා ගන්නා ලද ව්‍යාජ ලෝකයක" යයි සසුන් පියාණෝ කියා සිටියහ.සාන්තා මාර්තා නිවහනේ උදාසන දිව්‍ය පූජාවේ අනුශාසනය කරමින් උන්වහන්සේ මේ බව පැවසුහ.
බ්‍රහස්පතින්දාට නියමිත දිව්‍ය පුජාවේ එනම් සුවිශේෂයේ එන ලාසරස් සහ ධනවත් මිනිසා උපමාව පාප් වහන්සේ ගේ අනුශාසනයට පාදක විය.(ලූක් 16: 19-31)

ධනවත් මිනිසා අයහපත් මිනිසකු යයි කිව හැකි කිසිදු ඉඟියක් මෙම සුවිශේෂ පාඨයෙන් සොයා ගත නොහැකි බව සසුන් පියාණෝ පැවසුහ." සමහර විට ධනවත් මිනිසා ඔහුගේ ම මිම්මට අනුව දැහැමි මිනිසෙක් වන්නට ඇති. බොහෝ විට ඔහු යාච්ඥා කරන්නට ඇති. පඬුරු ඔප්පු කිරීමට දේවමාළිගාවට යන්නට ඇති. පූජක වරුනට විශාල සම්මාදම් දෙන්නට ඇති. පූජකයන් නිවට කම නිසා පුජකයන් ඒ වෙනුවෙන් ඔවුන්ට ස්තුති කර මහත් ගෞරවයක් ඔහුට දෙන්නටත් ඇති."

"ප්‍රශ්නය වූයේ , ධනවත් මිනිසා ගෙදරින් පිට වන විට ඔහු ගේ දොරකඩ සිටි අසරණ මිනිසා ඔහුට නොපෙනීමයි. ඇතැම් විට පිටත නොපෙනීම සඳහා ඔහු ගේ මෝටර රථයේ වීදුරු අඳුරු කර තිබෙන්නට ඇති; මා දන්නේ නැහැ" "යි සුදොතුම් පියාණෝ සරදම් කරමින් පැවැසුහ ." එහෙත් අපට නියත වශයෙන්ම එක දෙයක් කිව හැකිය. ඔහු ගේ ආත්මය, ආත්මයේ ඇස අන්ධව තිබු බවයි"

"ධනවත් මිනිසා නරක මිනිසෙක් නොවෙයි. ඔහු රෝගීව සිටියා.ඔහු ආත්මය අසංවේදී කරන ලෞකිකත්වය නමැති රෝගයෙන් රෝගීව සිටියා."

"අදත් දුෂ්කරතා වලින් පෙලෙන විවිධ අවශ්‍යතා ඇති අය අප අසලම සිටිනවා. එහෙත් මගේ හදවත ලෞකික නම් මම කවදාවත් ඒ බව තේරුම් ගන්නේ නැහැ. ඔබ විශ්වාසීව දේවස්ථානයට ගියත්, යාච්ඥා කලත්, ලෞකික හදවතකින් ඔබට කිසිදාක සෙසු අයගේ අවශ්‍යතා, දුෂ්කරතා තේරුම් ගත නොහැකි" යයි ප්‍රැන්සිස් සසුන් පියාණෝ වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

Pope Francis says that when people trust in the world more than in God, their heart becomes numb and their eyes blind to those in need.
"Worldliness transforms souls, it makes [people] lose touch with reality: They live in a fake world they have made," he said Thursday in his homily at a morning Mass in the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae, where he lives.
The pope's homily was based on the day's Gospel reading from St. Luke in which Jesus tells the Pharisees the story of a rich man who was unaware that lying at his door was "a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table."
The pope said there was nothing in the passage to suggest that the rich man was bad; on the contrary, the pope said, "perhaps he was a religious man, in his own way. Perhaps he prayed," went to the temple to offer sacrifices, "and gave big contributions to the priests and, with their clerical cowardliness, they thanked him and let him sit at a place of honour."
The problem was that when the rich man left his home, he never noticed the person in need at his door, the pope said, according to Vatican Radio.
Perhaps the car he used had dark tinted windows to not see out. Maybe, I don't know," the pope teased.
What was certain, however, was that "his soul, the eyes of his soul were darkened," so that "he only saw inside his own life and he wasn't aware of things going on" outside, he said.
The rich man "wasn't bad," Pope Francis said, "he was ill, ill with worldliness," which "numbs the soul" and is difficult to heal.
So many people with difficulties or in need "live next to us," the pope said. "But if my heart is worldly, I will never understand this. With a worldly heart, you cannot understand the necessities, the needs of others" even if you go to church faithfully and pray.
